Game Guide1. Basics 2. Characters 3. Items 4. Combat 5. City Locations 6. Miscellaneous BasicsFeatures - Singularity seeks to be unique amongst the dozens of multiplayer online browser based roleplaying games. This game seeks to combine some of the best elements from some of the greatest RPG games ever created, such as the Final Fantasy series and Xenosaga, as well computer game classics such as Diablo and Legend of the Red Dragon. Some of Singularity's novel features:- Party system. Two dozen different Non-Player Character classes offer a large variety of different party choices, which in turn can affect your playstyle. - Randomly generated items. Weapons, armors, and accessories all have different sets of attributes that are randomly chosen when items are created. - Auction system. All items can be listed for auction in an universal marketplace. - 1,000 different monsters. They each have different strengths and weaknesses, and spawn around 10 different cities. If you look closely enough, you might also find some familiar monster names. - Bosses. Could these myserious Lords hold the keys to immortality? - Original storyline. The underlining storyline will reveal itself as you progress through the game. It is nihilistic most of the time, but can be inspiring at others. System requirements - all you really need is a computer with acess to the internet. This game has been tested in both Microsoft Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. However, consistent performance in other browsers cannot be guaranted. Back to top CharactersPlayer - you play as the player character, the main character in each party. You will uncover information about your past and future as you advance through the game. For equipment, you are allowed one armor, one weapon, and one accessory. "Special" players may have a second unique accessory item. More information about equipment may be found here. In your party, you are allowed to have two non-player characters, and donators, as well as high ranking administrators, for the game are allowed three.Non-Player Characters - there are two different NPC classes in each town. Each class has its own strengths and weaknesses. Some classes are noticeably stronger than others. You are encouraged to try out different NPC classes. NPC's can be hired from the Academy. Character Attributes - every character, as well as monsters and bosses, has four primary attributes: - Strength (STR) - primary factor in determining melee type attack damage. Makes small contribution to ranged and healing type attacks. - Dexterity (DEX) - primary factor in determining ranged type attack damage. Makes small contribution to melee and healing type attacks. Dexterity also determines a character's hit rate. - Vitality (VIT) - high vitality gives a character high hitpoints, and makes the character more resistant to damage. - Luck (LUK) - luck is used in calculating critical hits. High luck also increases the amount of gold and the quality of items found. Characters can also have the following secondary attributes: - Level (LVL) - a number between 1 and 99, and the higher the level, the stronger the character. - Hitpoints (HP) - determines how much damage a character can take. HP is determined by the character's LVL and VIT. Some items also give HP bonuses. When a character's hitpoints reaches 0, the character is unconscious. It is strange, however, that the player character's HP can never become 0... - Experience (EXP) - measures how far a character is from the next level. The higher a character's current level, the more experience is needed to advance to the next level. - Gold - gold is the primary currency in the game. It can be used to pay for various in game services, as well as for items in the Market. Gold is earned in combat, or from scavenging. - Time - time is what limits a player's actions. Your available time automatically refills by 5 every 10 minutes. Party Details - this area shows all of your character's attributes, as well as your inventory. In the attribute columns, the attribute value is shown by two numbers, for example: 25 (+2). This means that the current value of the attribute is 25, and the character will gain 2 more in that attribute upon leveling up. For this reason, the second number is referred to as attribute growth. To change your equipment, simply click on the name of equipment. You may hold up to three of each type of item in your inventory. You will be able to dismiss party members from this page as well, but remember that you will not be able to get that party member back again. Back to top ItemsAll items are randomly generated in the field. Items are also traded in the Market. Below is a brief description of each of the three item types:Armors - defensive item. Each armor offers a defense rating (DEF), which helps reduce damage taken in battles. Each armor can also have up to two special modifiers that give the armor extra abilities. To be able to use a specific armor, your level must be higher than the armor's level. Weapons - offensive item. Each weapon offers an offense rating (ATK), which helps increase damage dealt in battles. Weapons may have one of three different attack types - melee, ranged, and healing. More powerful weapons are also able to hit all the targets in battle at once. Each weapon can also have one special modifier. To be able to use a specific weapon, your level must be higher than the weapon's level. Accessories - accessories are all level 1, so they are usable by anyone at any level. Accessories may have up to two modifiers, although it is very difficult to find an accessory with both modifiers. Back to top CombatThere are currently three types of combat available - field (player vs. monster), arena (player vs. player), and boss battles.Field - in the field, you are able to fight random groups of monsters. Each town has a different set of monsters, and each town's monsters are a bit different from those of the next. Monster groups are fought in groups of one to three, and donators are given one extra monster to fight every battle. Field battles yield gold, experience, and if you're lucky, items. Arena - in the arena, you are able to take on another player. However, both players must have activated joined the arena, and must be in the same city. You will be able to see a list of players within a range of your level who you can attack when you enter the arena. Arena battles yield experience only. Boss - when your level is high enough, bosses spread around the game will take notice, and will allow you to challenge them to battle. In battle options - in battle, all your party members and all enemy characters will attack every turn, however, you will have 3 different options: - Attack - execute an attack. Your attack can be melee, ranged, or healing, and is determined by the weapon you are using. - Defend - defending prevents critical hits and stuns, any damage you take is also cut in half. - Run - admit defeat and run away from the battle. Special battle statuses - during battle, characters may execute critical hits, or may become stunned. A critical hit ignores the defender's DEX, as well as armor. When a character is stunned, that character will not be able to do anything useful in the following turn. Win and defeat - against monsters, you win the battle when all monsters are dead. Against players, you win the battle when the enemy player character's HP has reached 1. You lose the battle when your own HP reaches 1. Back to top City LocationsThere are twelve different cities in the world of Singularity. Each has its own defining characteristics. Towns can also have the following locations:Temple - the holy place of the city. You can rest here to heal yourself and your party members. Academy - this is where you can hire new party members. You do not pay for a new party member, instead, you must prove your strength by defeating him in a one on one battle. Each town has different NPC's for you to hire. You can only hire NPC's whose level is lower than or equal to your own. Archives - in the archives, you may change your name, or your party members' names. You can also see a list of the top players in the world, as well as a list of administrators. Finally, you will be able to search for another character by name in the archives. Arena - this is where you must go to engage in PVP battles. The first time you enter, you are asked whether you want to sign up for PVP. This decision cannot be reversed, until you are dead (as in, HP 0 dead). Market - the market is for selling and buying items. You may pawn any useless items taking up valuable inventory space here. In addition, you may access the auction system here. To list an item, you must pay a fee equal to half of the item's value. When listing, you may choose the length of time you would like to list the item for. Once listed, the item is taken from your inventory. You may cancel the auction at any time, but your listing fee will not be refunded. If you bid on an auction item and win, you must retrieve it from the market. This can be done by finding the auction listing in "Your Auctions", and using the retrieve option on the listing. Fields - exit the city gates to battle monsters or to scavenge for items. Courier - the courier is the message center. You may view new and old messages here, as well as messages you have sent. Back to top MiscellaneousAdministrators - the warriors who manage the game, and are the guiding for players in times of darkness. There are three ranks of administrators, which are, in order from highest to lowest, Seraphim, Dominion, and Angel. If you are having problems with the game, please do not hesitate to contact an administrator. The list of administrators can be found in the census page, located in Archives. Forums - you may discuss just about anything here, but please keep your posts clean. Contributing - if you would like to contribute to this game, please contact an administrator. All quality contributions are more than welcome. Back to top |
